I coach a lot of youth sports — high school and club soccer. One of the mantras I have is play without regret. Playing without regret means when you look back at the game, you don’t regret anything you did — win, lose or draw. You step to every ball, you make every run, and you take shots when available.
The same applies to business.
Looking back over the past couple days and weeks, do you have any regrets? Should you have:
- made the telephone call
- held the meeting
- wrote the letter
- asked for the purchase
- made the request
If so, then you’re playing with regret.
The last thing you want to do — win, lose or draw — is look back and say “I wish I would have…”
